International Awards and Recognition

Faculty members have garnered significant international recognition for research innovation:

  • ITEX 2023 Gold Medals (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia): The department secured two gold awards at the 34th International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition, which featured over 700 entries from 19 countries.
    1. Gold Medal in Health & Medicine for the project "Natural Active Pain Reducer from Local Herbs" (Chief Researcher: Prof. Dr. Mokhlesur Rahman).
    2. Gold Medal in Agriculture for the project "Revolutionizing Eco-Friendly Textile: Innovating Water-Repellent Natural Fiber from Jute" (Chief Researcher: Prof. Dr. Mokhlesur Rahman).
  • International Conference Participation: Faculty have presented and participated in prominent forums including:
    • IAEA's International Nuclear Security Education Network (INSEN) Annual Meeting (Vienna, 2019)
    • Rosatom Technical Academy conferences on nuclear industry capacity building (Russia, 2019)
    • Train-the-trainer programs on VVER-1200 reactor technology (Russia, 2018)

The department has achieved measurable success in translating research into protected intellectual property:

  • Two Patents Filed (January 2025): Prof. Dr. Mokhlesur Rahman secured formal patent protection for two innovations:
    1. BD/P/2025/18: "Natural Active Pain Reducer" – A therapeutic composition with demonstrated analgesic and antioxidant properties.
    2. BD/P/2025/17: "Water-repellent Jute Product" – A sustainable material innovation enhancing jute's functional applications.

International Collaboration and Leadership

Faculty engagement extends to global academic diplomacy and partnership development:

  • Keynote Addresses: Lt Col Md. Altab Hossain, PhD, delivered keynote presentations at:
    • 23rd Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (Shanghai, China)
    • 2025 International Conference on Industry-Education-Research Integration (Changchun, China)
  • Institutional Partnership: These engagements facilitated the establishment of a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MIST and Jilin University, China, enabling structured academic and research cooperation.
